Haunt the House 2 is an interesting game to play. It takes the first and second part of the Haunt the House experience and combines them into a single package. While you do have choices as to which level you start on, and how many rooms you will explore, the game really picks up after the second chapter. You will begin to learn just why this game has been getting great reviews, and why so many people are looking for a way to enjoy it again. Here is my breakdown of the first part of the game. In the beginning you will be shown just what you can expect from this game before going any further. A bit of a mystery surrounding the events that occurred in the first Haunt the House game comes to a head. You will learn more about the girl that was the initial victim of your house, and what exactly happened that got her out of it. There is some speculation as to whether or not she was killed by your father. You get more clues as to who actually killed her and also get a taste of the mystery that surrounds her murder.
This leads into the second chapter of the game, and the mystery that continues to unfold. As you continue on your journey through haunted house hell, you will find yourself trapped and left to your own devices to find a way out. There are a few things you should know about this chapter in particular. First, there are three different endings for each level. Secondly, you can trigger certain events by picking up objects, and thirdly, the camera can reveal information about the rooms you are in at certain times.
One of the best parts of the game is the music. The tunes blend well with the atmosphere of the game and really help to take you through the scenes. The first musical track you encounter is called “Resolution”, and it is best described as being on the upbeat side. It helps to set the mood for the whole game. While it might not sound all that interesting, it is one of the better examples of original score that can be found for PC gaming.
The story is very well written and managed to make me feel for the characters, and the story. I especially liked how you were initially led to believe that you were playing an adventure game, where nothing good had happened to anyone. However, as the game went on, I began to realize that maybe I was playing a horror game, where something bad had happened to the protagonist. The last few levels of haunt the house 2 really left an impression. While there were some moments of terror and suspense, the majority of the game was a positive, happy experience.
When I finished the game, I felt very disappointed with the overall quality of the game. Granted, the story and musical score were exceptional, but the rest of the game was quite uninteresting. My reaction was similar to that of other people when they tried Outlast. Outlast was definitely one of the scariest games I’ve played, and while the ending may have been disappointing for some, I can still see how many horror fans would consider it to be successful. While there are horror fans and non-horror fans, most people fall into the non-horror category. This does not mean that the game is bad, because Outlast still has its moments of thrilling excitement.
Despite my initial impressions, I must say that I am not a horror game purist, but I can certainly say that Outlast is one of the scariest games I have played this year. Despite being a “first person” game, the game is very well done in first person perspective. You get a little glimpse into the minds of the characters and are presented with eerie pictures and a lot of dark atmosphere. The first few hours of the game do not give you a lot of clues to what exactly is going on, and most people who try out the game will get lost in the woods.
After you start to play the game, I can see how this could easily become a personal favorite, as the experience gets better. Puzzles never seem to get boring, and the graphics and sounds are top notch. There are no bugs to ruin the experience, and most technical aspects seem to work perfectly. If you are looking for a good puzzle game, then Outlast is the game for you. I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed.
